Natural Organic Eco-Friendly Clothing
Made in USA or Fair Trade
Our storefront in Mercersburg has to relocate because the building sold and is under new management. So as we close that door, literally, we are excited to open another and our plans are to transition to a shop on our farm. In the meantime, we have set up temporary shopping in The Guest House at LAAF. Because this house is serving double duty, we need to make amendments in our shop hours so that our guests have full privacy during their stay. Below is a listing of our shop hours through December 31st, 2016. Oh, and if you are staying at The Guest House of LAAF, you can always enjoy savings at Pachallina…guests receive 20% off their purchase during their stay! You can sign up for our NEWSLETTER by entering your email in the “Sign up for E-News” section located to the right on this page. Call 717.491.0036 or email me if you would like to set up an appointment or if you have questions! Thank you for your patience and patronage!
Pachallina offers an amazing selection of upscale natural, organic and eco-friendly clothing, such as wool, pima cotton, linen, bamboo and silk … and, of course, alpaca! Most of our clothing is exclusive in the Mid-Atlantic states and all is Made in the USA or Fair Trade. You’ll find our quantities of each style are limited and our selection is wide, giving you something far from ordinary and more like extraordinary.
We have expanded and now offer our cottage industry/hand made products, fiber arts, and NEW home decor line that includes blankets, pillows, placemats, rugs, and more. We are an Ashford Dealer – carrying a nice selection of weaving and spinning products, as well as alpaca yarns, rovings and batts. We also offer custom hand knitting services with a rapid turnaround thanks to Sylvia, a very skilled knitter. Many of our cottage industry items are made from the alpacas on our farm. Imagine visiting and touching an alpaca, and then being able to purchase the individual yarn from that alpaca’s fleece!
Major credit cards and personal checks accepted. Gift cards are available. Pachallina is open year round, offering a unique selection in a beautiful setting. Come see for yourself!
Pachallina means clothing in Quechuan, the language spoken by the Inca Empire, which existed in South America in the Pre-Columbian Era. Modern day alpacas originated in South America and the name of our retail store pays tribute to our alpaca heritage. People pronounce Pachallina many different ways. No matter how you say it, Pachallina means fabulous clothing and gifts!
The Natural Fiber Difference
Natural fibers are not only better for you; they’re also better for the environment. In 2009, we celebrated the International Year of Natural Fibres, recognizing a total of fifteen plant and animal natural fibers. They are grown and harvested without harsh chemicals or additives. Many natural fibers have antibacterial properties and unlike synthetics, natural fibers “breathe” which wicks away moisture. Some, such as wool, act as insulators against both cold and heat, which is why people in desert climates wear thin wool to keep themselves cool. But that’s not the end of the story … natural fibers are self-sustainable, recyclable, and biodegradable!
