Alpacas at the Largest Ag Show in the US....the PA Farm Show 2016!

This is the 100th year of the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg, PA.  Pennsylvania is proud to host the largest indoor agricultural exposition in the nation, with nearly 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibits.  Join us January 9 - 16, 2016, to celebrate agriculture at the  100th Pennsylvania Farm Show.

There are two events in this year's PA Farm Show that mark major milestones for Pennsylvania Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (PAOBA).

Saturday, January 9th, 10 AM----The Alpaca Princess will be participating again this year in the Opening Ceremonies.    PAOBA leads the US Alpaca Industry by having crowned our 3rd PAOBA Alpaca Princess in 2015.  PAOBA was honored last year when the Alpaca Princess, her Runner Up and two alpacas were included for the first time in the Opening Ceremonies at the PA Farm Show.

Tuesday, January 12th, 8 AM to 11 AM-----New this year at the PA Farm Show is an alpaca livestock demonstration which includes both a Judged Showmanship Event and a Fiber Demonstration.  PA 4H Youth participants will be judged in both Obstacle and Showmanship classes.  The Fiber Demonstration will include cottage crafts such as carding, spinning, weaving, and felting.  The PA 4H Youth represent eight 4H groups from 7 counties--in total 24 4H Youth in the Halter classes.   Most of the 4H participants were chosen because of their exceptional abilities and participation in their 4H Alpaca Organizations.

Pennsylvania Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (PAOBA) has participated in the PA Farm Show for a number of years as an educational vendor.  PAOBA members share rotations in the vendor booth throughout the week long event.  The vendor booth is comprised of:

Sales sections for PA Preferred merchandise produced by individual members or merchandise produced through the PAOBA Fiber and Yarn Project.
Education station for weaving, spinning, and felting demonstrations and numerous handouts
Alpaca viewing area where visitors can learn up close about all things alpaca.
